Every time the seasons start to change, auto dealers will have great sales. Let’s say the engine of your current car or truck has failed and you need a new ride. One of the questions you could have is what difference the drive systems make? So, with that in mind, let’s find out.

Front Wheel Drive

To start off, let’s look at front wheel drive. This is the option that you will see the most often, no matter which vehicle you are looking to buy. When it comes to the drive systems, front wheel drive is the easiest and least expensive to manufacture. This allows the vehicle to cost less and afford the driver and passenger more room in the cabin. But how does it work? Front wheel drive directs engine power to the front wheels of your vehicle, and only the front wheels. More weight is focused on this part of your ride, so when the road is slippery due to rain, snow, or ice, you will have better traction.

Rear Wheel Drive

Next up is rear wheel drive. Unlike front wheel drive, the engine power is shifted to the set of wheels in the back. This is great for heavier vehicles like trucks and SUVs, and also has the effect of granting your car higher horsepower. However, one major downside to rear wheel drive is that it isn’t as practical as its front-wheel cousin for most day-to-day drivers. Plus, it doesn’t handle as well when weather conditions make the roads slippery and more treacherous to navigate.

All Wheel Drive

What do you want to do this fall? If you plan on going off-roading, then you’ll need to have all-wheel drive. All-wheel drive also comes in handy when you are out driving and run into unexpectedly foul weather. This drive system sends power from the engine to all four wheels. However, all-wheel drive systems are designed differently by each manufacturer. The front wheels may still be favored, or in some cases, the AWD system only works under certain conditions. If the tires start to slip off the road, then the AWD will redirect power to the wheels that need them more.

Four Wheel Drive

Four-wheel drive systems are similar to all-wheel drive. But the main difference is that they provide even more engine power for the most challenging driving conditions or activities, such as going over boulders or through deep bodies of water.

Defensive driving is one of the smartest ways to make sure you stay safe while you’re out on the road. You never know what other drivers could be thinking or doing while they’re behind the wheel. Are they texting or eating something? Trying their hardest not to doze off? Consider equipping your truck with push bars this summer to ensure you have as much protection as possible.

Push Bars

The push bars you attach to your vehicle could make a tremendous difference. If you were to bump into another car, the push bars would help minimize the impact of such a situation. They disperse the pressure through rubber-coated vertical bars. It’s easy to attach these push bars to your truck, snapping right onto the front. You might often see them referred to as center grille guards, but these are not always the same item.

Grille Guards

Grille guards, or full grille guards, are another option for you to consider. They are also called brush guards, and they protect your vehicle’s front. The steel frames on these guards are designed to be excellent shock absorbers. One of the best things about the grille guards, though, is how they can slow you down. In any accident scenario, the faster you are going, the more damage you can expect. When you go more slowly, the damage will most likely not be as severe. Whether you want push bars or grille guards, you’re better off choosing one or the other instead of leaving your truck almost completely unprotected.

Bull Bars

Luckily, you’re not out of choices just yet. If neither of the above upgrades appeals to you, you can use bull bars instead. Bull bars protect both the front and the undercarriage of your vehicle. They are stronger and more resilient than both push bars and grille guards. Many different manufacturers offer bull bars, too, so they should be easy to find.

Are you worried about anything happening to the back of your ride? A fourth option is to use bumper guards that can be added to both your front fenders and back bumpers. That way, even if someone takes too wide a turn while parallel parking, your truck should still be safe.

You purchased your truck so you could haul large loads and heavy cargo. But some materials are just too long…even for your truck. What do you do in these instances?

Well, you have two options.

1. Give Up

2. Find a Better Solution

Investing in a truck ladder rack can give you the extra cargo room you need to haul those long loads. This will also minimize the risk you pose to other drivers on the road. No longer will you have to haul those long boards, pipes or other objects with your tailgate down. A ladder rack allows you to securely fasten these objects overhead.

Whether you are a contractor, farmer, carpenter, plumber, or just an average joe, a ladder rack will greatly enhance the capabilities of your truck.

If you are interested in having a Truck Ladder Rack installed in your vehicle, contact Trick Trucks today. We are here for you. All products can be purchased in our showroom and can be professionally installed at all of our twelve locations. If you have any questions, please contact Trick Trucks by calling 1-866-60 TRICK or click here today! Hard to find items (including grilles) are our specialty.

Check us out on Facebook and Twitter as well!

Each Trick Trucks location (throughout Maryland, Virginia, West Virginia and Delaware) offers full service installation of all truck parts and accessories. With over 30 years of service, our counter sales staff will keep you up to speed on the latest accessories that we can install on your vehicle. Whether it is your own personal vehicle, or your work truck, Trick Trucks will provide factory authorized service for all of your installation needs. All work is guaranteed and all factory warrantees apply.

Convenience. It is what we strive for. And nothing is quite as convenient as a remote starter. This vehicular luxury can be purchased and installed as an aftermarket accessory.

This article from eHow.com explains several benefits to having a remote starter installed in your car, truck, or SUV.

A remote starter allows a driver to start a car’s engine with a remote control, usually in the form of an electronic key fob. Besides the obvious advantage of stepping into a warm (or cool) car, there are several benefits of having a remote starter. These benefits include:

Comfort

Comfort is the key. As we mentioned above, remote starters allow you to start your car from inside your home, meaning you can let your vehicle warm up in the winter or cool down in the summer. By leaving the heater or air conditioning in the “On” position, a driver can activate the remote starter then wait several minutes, during which time the climate control runs.

Safety

By allowing your car to warm up before driving, it makes ice and snow cleanup and defrosting much easier. All of this means greater visibility for you, the driver. Warming the car also melts snow and ice that can obstruct the headlights or brake lights, making your car more visible to other drivers, especially in snowy conditions.

Engine Care

Warming the car, before driving, is also beneficial for the engine. Because the car idles for several minutes before being driven, the engine oil becomes more viscous and provides better lubrication once the driver is ready to go.

Resale Value

Remote starters also add to the resale value of your vehicle, especially if you live in areas with extreme weather conditions.

If you are interested in having a remote starter installed in your vehicle, contact Trick Trucks today. We are here for you. All products can be purchased in our showroom and can be professionally installed at all of our twelve locations. If you have any questions, please contact Trick Trucks by calling 1-866-60 TRICK or click here today! Hard to find items (including grilles) are our specialty.

If you own a pickup truck, then you should invest in a bed liner. It is the only way to truly protect your truck bed from rust, dents, scratches, and other damage. But when it comes to choosing a bed liner, do you go with a traditional drop-in liner or a spray-on bed liner?

This article from RyanChevrolet.com tries to shed some light on this argument.

Drop-in liners have been around for decades. They are made of plastic composite and are molded for specific makes and models. Drop-in liners are designed to bend and flex, making them relatively easy to install.

However it is that same flexibility that makes installation easy that also causes the drop-in liner’s biggest drawback. The plastic liner expands and contracts with the changing weather. This causes gaps to form between the liner and the truck bed, allowing rain to seep in and form mold and/or rust.

Spray-on bed liners, meanwhile, have gained immense popularity over the past few years. There are several features that make this type of liner so intriguing, including:

1. Durability – these liners are built to last.

2. The Slide Factor – unlike drop-in liners, these liners better resist slippage.

3. Fading – these liners resist fading in the hot summer sun.

4. Versatility – these liners can be applied to most surfaces.

5. Rust Prevention – spray-on liners bond to your truck bed, meaning there is no room for rust.

Do you use your truck for work? Or are you just handy and need your tools around at all times? Whatever your reason, installing a toolbox in your truck bed is a great way to ensure that your tools are never far away, while also adding to the value of your pickup. Truck tool boxes can also be useful for storage, saving space and keeping loads in a compact place while driving.

Once you have purchased your new toolbox, all you need to do is mount it. This article from eHow.com explains how…

1. Measure the dimensions of the tool box and the truck bed to make sure that the tool box will fit appropriately. Place adhesive protective tape on the rails (only where the tool box will rest).

2. Place the tool box in the bed of the truck and open the lid to make sure that it opens unimpeded. Mark where holes will be drilled into the truck bed and make sure that they align with the tool box. Leave the lid open and drill the holes through the tool box into the bed. Holes might have to be drilled into the rails of the truck, depending on the design of the tool box.

3. Place the bolts through the newly drilled holes. Lock the bolts in place by tightening them with lock washers and nuts

Of course, if you would rather leave the installation to the professionals, Trick Trucks is here for you. All products can be purchased in our showroom and can be professionally installed at all of our twelve locations. If you have any questions, please contact Trick Trucks by calling 1-866-60 TRICK or click here today! Hard to find items (including grilles) are our specialty
