If you’ve ever stood at the back of your truck, scratching your head and wondering how on earth you’re going to fit everything in, you’re not alone. Truck beds are great, but they’re not magic. And if you’re hauling tools, gear, or a week’s worth of camping supplies, space gets tight fast. The good news? A little planning and the right setup can help you get a lot more out of that space.

Start with a Clean Slate

First things first: take everything out of your truck bed. Old bungee cords, leftover scraps, that rogue water bottle rolling around – they all need to go.

Once it’s empty, give it a quick sweep or rinse. Starting fresh helps you see exactly what you’re working with and gives you a chance to check for damage or rust while you’re at it.

Invest in a Bed Organizer

Bed organizers come in all shapes and sizes, from simple dividers to more advanced drawer systems. If you’re regularly carrying tools or smaller items, a drawer system can be a game-changer. It keeps everything in place and easy to reach without climbing into the bed or digging through a pile of stuff.

If drawers feel like overkill, modular dividers or cargo bars work well too. They stop things from sliding around and give structure to your layout.

Use Vertical Space

People often think of truck beds like big bins, where everything just gets tossed in and stacked. But think of it more like a shelf. There’s plenty of unused space above the floor. A good rack system lets you carry items like ladders, lumber, or kayaks above the bed, freeing up room below for everything else.

You can even find racks with side mounts or baskets that add extra options without sacrificing floor space.

Toolboxes That Do More

Toolboxes are a classic addition to any truck bed, and for good reason. But the key is choosing one that fits your setup. A low-profile toolbox that mounts near the cab can offer a ton of storage without eating up too much real estate. Some models also come with rails or tie-down points built in, which is a nice bonus if you need to secure cargo.

Tie It Down Right

Loose cargo wastes space and creates a mess. Tie-down anchors and ratchet straps are small additions that make a big difference.

Install some extra tie-down points if your truck doesn’t already have enough. This lets you secure items tightly, stack more efficiently, and avoid shifting loads while driving.

Think Outside the Bed

If you’re really pushing your space limits, consider using a hitch-mounted cargo carrier or even a small trailer. It’s not cheating. It’s smart. Sometimes your bed just isn’t big enough, and that’s okay.

Getting the most out of your truck bed doesn’t require fancy gear or a total overhaul. With a few upgrades and a bit of organization, you’ll be surprised at how much you can fit – and how much easier your life on the road gets.

If you rely on your truck for both your job and your weekend adventures, customizing it to handle both roles is a smart move. A few well-thought-out upgrades can make your truck more functional on the job site and more enjoyable when you’re off the clock. Here’s a straightforward guide to customizing your truck so it works hard and plays even harder.

Start With the Bed Setup

The truck bed is your main workspace, so it should be organized and tough enough to take a beating. If you’re hauling tools or materials during the week, consider a heavy-duty bed liner or mat to protect the surface. Add a toolbox, something weatherproof and lockable, to keep your gear secure. You might also want a slide-out bed tray, which makes accessing tools or loading up weekend gear easier without having to crawl around.

For recreational use, consider a tonneau cover. It keeps your stuff out of sight and protected from weather. Plus, it makes your truck look cleaner. If you’re hauling bikes, kayaks, or camping gear, modular racks or bed extenders can help you fit everything without playing Tetris every time you pack.

Upgrade the Suspension and Tires

If your job takes you off-road or over uneven terrain, better suspension is a must. A quality lift kit can give you more clearance and improve your truck’s ability to handle rough conditions – whether that’s a muddy job site or a weekend trail.

Tires also make a big difference. All-terrain tires are a good middle ground for those who switch between pavement and dirt. If you’re mainly on job sites during the week but head to the mountains or desert on weekends, these are worth the investment.

Lighting Matters

Extra lighting isn’t just for looks, it’s also quite functional. Add a set of LED light bars or flood lights if you work in low-light conditions or head out before sunrise. They’re also useful for nighttime camping or navigating backroads. You don’t need to go overboard, but a couple of strategically placed lights can save you a lot of hassle.

Tech and Interior Comfort

If you’re spending hours in your truck each day, comfort and convenience count. Seat covers protect your interior from grime, spills, and wear. Go for ones that are easy to clean and rugged enough for daily use. Floor mats are another must, especially if your boots are tracking in mud or snow.

For tech, think about a solid dash mount for your phone or tablet if you use GPS or apps for work. And if you’re driving long distances, upgrading your sound system or adding some noise insulation can make the ride more enjoyable.

Wrap It Up with Personal Touches

This is your truck, so don’t be afraid to make it yours. Whether it’s decals, a custom grille, or even a fridge in the back for tailgating, there’s no wrong answer – just make sure the changes serve your lifestyle.

The goal is to make your truck more efficient Monday through Friday, and a whole lot more fun on the weekend. A little planning and a few upgrades can make a big difference.

If you’re a truck owner, you already know that stock models often leave a lot to be desired. Whether you use your truck for work, off-roading, or everyday driving, the right accessories can make a huge difference in both performance and style. As we head into the summer, new trends and innovations in truck accessories this year are making it easier than ever to customize your ride. Here are some of the top must-have accessories to consider this year.

1. All-Terrain Tires

A great set of all-terrain tires is one of the best investments you can make for your truck. Whether you’re tackling rocky trails, muddy backroads, or snowy highways, high-quality tires improve traction, safety, and durability. In 2025, advancements in tire technology mean better grip, improved fuel efficiency, and longer tread life.

2. LED Light Bars

Driving at night or in off-road conditions? LED light bars are a game-changer. They provide powerful illumination, making it easier to see obstacles and improve visibility in low-light environments. Many new models come with smart features like adjustable brightness, wireless controls, and customizable colors to match your truck’s aesthetic.

3. Tonneau Covers

Tonneau covers are essential for protecting your truck bed from the elements while also keeping your cargo secure. In 2025, retractable and soft-folding covers are trending, offering a perfect balance between convenience and durability. Many new models also feature remote-controlled opening and integrated security locks.

4. Performance Tuners

Looking to boost horsepower and fuel efficiency? Performance tuners allow you to optimize your truck’s engine settings for better speed, towing capacity, and fuel economy. With new AI-driven tuners, customization is easier than ever, with settings tailored to specific driving needs.

5. Heavy-Duty Floor Mats

Your truck’s interior takes a beating, especially if you spend time in muddy, wet, or dusty conditions. Heavy-duty floor mats made from durable, easy-to-clean materials keep your interior looking fresh and make cleanup a breeze. New designs in 2025 offer improved fit, raised edges, and better traction to keep dirt and spills contained.

6. Truck Bed Storage Systems

Staying organized on the road is crucial, especially for work trucks or off-road adventures. Truck bed storage systems, such as slide-out drawers and modular compartments, make it easy to access tools, gear, and personal items. Newer models are weather-resistant and come with smart locking mechanisms for added security.

7. Side Steps & Running Boards

Lifting your truck for better ground clearance is great, but it can make getting in and out a challenge. Side steps and running boards not only add a stylish touch but also provide a practical way to access your cab and bed. Newer units even feature retractable designs that tuck away when not in use.

8. Dash Cams & Security Systems

With the rise in vehicle theft and accidents, having a good dash cam and security system is more important than ever. Modern systems offer HD recording, motion detection, and even real-time alerts sent to your smartphone. Some models even integrate with your truck’s onboard diagnostics to provide extra safety features.

9. Custom Grilles & Bumpers

Want to give your truck a bold, aggressive look? A custom grille or heavy-duty bumper can make a big impact. Some current models also come with integrated LED lighting, winch mounts, and additional reinforcement for off-road durability.

10. Smart Tailgate Assists

Tailgate assist technology is improving, making it easier to load and unload cargo without the usual strain. From power liftgates to multi-functional designs that act as workbenches, smart tailgates are becoming a must-have for truck owners who use their bed frequently.

Final Thoughts

Upgrading your truck in 2025 is all about combining functionality with style. Whether you’re looking to improve performance, add convenience, or just make your truck look better, these accessories are worth considering. Investing in the right gear not only enhances your driving experience but also boosts your truck’s resale value down the road.

So, which upgrade are you planning to add to your truck this year?

If you own a truck, you know how useful the bed can be for hauling cargo. Whether you’re hauling construction materials or simply transporting groceries, having a reliable and secure way to protect your cargo is essential. A hard truck bed cover can provide that protection, but is it the right option for you?

What is a Hard Truck Bed Cover?

A hard truck bed cover is a durable cover that attaches to the bed of your truck to protect your cargo from the elements and potential theft. These covers are typically made from materials such as fiberglass or aluminum and can be locked in place, providing added security for your belongings.

Benefits of a Hard Truck Bed Cover

Protection from the Elements

One of the main benefits of a hard truck bed cover is that it protects your cargo from the elements. If you’re transporting items that could be damaged by rain, snow, or wind, a hard cover can provide the necessary protection to keep your items safe and dry.

Increased Security

Another benefit of a hard truck bed cover is that it can help deter theft. When your cargo is out of sight, it’s less likely to be targeted by thieves. Additionally, many hard covers can be locked in place, making it difficult for someone to access your belongings without your permission.

Improved Fuel Efficiency

A hard truck bed cover can also improve your vehicle’s fuel efficiency. When your truck bed is open, air flows into the bed and creates drag, which can reduce your fuel efficiency. By installing a hard cover, you can reduce the drag and improve your gas mileage.

Considerations When Choosing a Hard Truck Bed Cover

Cost

One of the primary considerations when choosing a hard truck bed cover is cost. These covers can range in price from a few hundred dollars to over a thousand dollars, depending on the material and features. Before making a purchase, consider your budget and what features are most important to you.

Material

Another important consideration is the material of the cover. Fiberglass covers are typically more expensive but are more durable and provide better protection from the elements. Aluminum covers are typically less expensive but can dent more easily.

Installation

Finally, consider the installation process. Some hard truck bed covers require professional installation, while others can be installed by the owner. If you’re not comfortable installing the cover yourself, be sure to factor in the cost of professional installation when making your decision.

Is a Hard Truck Bed Cover Right for You?

Ultimately, the decision to purchase a hard truck bed cover will depend on your individual needs and preferences. If you frequently haul valuable or fragile items, or if you live in an area with harsh weather conditions, a hard cover may be a worthwhile investment. If you simply use your truck for basic transportation and don’t have concerns about theft or weather damage, a soft cover or no cover at all may suffice.

Truck bed liners are a great way to add value to your truck and protect the truck bed. Truck bed liners are seldom covered by a warranty, which means you’ll have to repair it yourself when the liner breaks, chips, scratches or dries. Here’s what you can do.

Step 1: Prepare the Surface

The first thing you’re going to need to do is clean the liner surface. Park your truck somewhere open, well lit, and protected from the elements. Using a mix of mild detergent and water, scrub down the truck bed liner with a rag. Afterwards, dry off with a towel. Look for any areas where there might be broken metal or rusting. Use steel wool to remove rust or a tack cloth to get rid of dust. You will need to scuff the area around any damage in order for the new spray on liner to grip to the old liner.

Step 2: Fill Large Breaks

Repairing a truck bed liner is fairly simple when it comes to larger areas. Be sure to thoroughly read the instructions on the paint sprayer before using it as each one differs slightly in use. Tape off areas of the bed liner that you do not want sprayed, and spray the liner 1 or 2 inches over the intended repair site. This will allow the liner to dry and properly attach to the old liner, which will help maintain the strength of the truck bed liner. You should let the liner cure for at least 2 to 3 days. Keep in mind that some paint sprayers that require an air compressor may not have the power to spread correctly over a large area.

Step 3: Repair Surface Cracks and Scuffs

Smaller, more precise jobs do not need a paint sprayer. Instead, pour the bed liner material into a disposable paint tray. Using a small brush dip into the truck bed liner material and gently dab it over scuffs and damaged areas. Let the brush hover over small fissures in order for the material to slowly drip between the cracks. Again, let the bed liner cure for at least 3 days.

Whether you are a handyman looking for a place to store your tools or a mechanic looking for extra space, there is one tool box that will always be there when you need it: a truck bed tool box! But with many different kinds on the market, how do you choose the best one for you? Let’s take a look at these unsung heroes of tool users everywhere!

Mounting Styles

There are several different kinds of tools boxes that are mounted differently. Mounting styles refer to how and where the boxes are attached to your truck. The first mounting style is the crossover that sits behind the cab and rests on the bed’s side rails. It does not extend to the floor, allowing you to maintain some floor space under it. This is a standard and simply designed box that is often low-cost. The next style is the chest box that sits behind the cab on the floor of the bed and doesn’t extend past the truck bed. This bed does limit the available floor space of your bed but doesn’t obstruct your view. A side box is attached to the side rails and fits on either side of the rail. This style allows two boxes to fit in the back of your truck and takes up very little space. It can be reached when standing next to the truck and doesn’t extend to the floor. A sliding mounted box sits on a sliding rail system for easy access. A hitch box attaches to the trailer hitch. A tailgate mounted box attaches to the tailgate and swings down with it for easy access and doesn’t take up space.

Features

Truck bed tool boxes are usually made out of aluminum. This material is known for being light, durable, and non-corrosive. However, there are some boxes made out of stainless steel and hard plastics. Stainless steel is also known for being non-corrosive and strong, but they are heavier and can be expensive. Tool boxes typically come in a neutral or metallic color. Powder coatings can also be applied to boxes, giving it extra protection from corrosion. Many truck bed tool boxes have either single, double, or gull-wing lids that are divided but hinged inside the box. Another thing to think about when considering your tool box is the installation. Consider whether a box can be installed without drilling bolt holes, how secure the box locks, and whether the lid opening is pneumatic or manual. Many boxes have shelves, dividers, and trays inside to hold your tools. But some boxes are open for customization.

When choosing a truck bed tool box, consider the job it will be doing. Think about the size of the objects that will be stored in the truck as well as the size and type of cargo that will be carried in the remainder of the bed. Choosing the right truck bed tool box for your lifestyle should be given careful thought and consideration. Talk to your local technician at Trick Trucks for more information on the best tool box for your truck!

There are a lot of advantages to having a bed cover for your pickup truck. Not only does it keep your truck bed from rotting from rain, but it will also keep your bed clean, debris free, and presentable. But when choosing a bed cover, which kind will you choose? Should you go classic like your grandfather’s truck or something a bit more modern? Well, let’s check out your options.

Soft Covers

There are several different types of flat covers for your truck: soft tonneau covers, roll-ups, folding, retractable, and fiberglass lids. Each of these covers has different advantages and disadvantages to them. The least expensive cover is the soft tonneau cover. Most of these covers have a frame with support bows that clamp to the truck. They do not require drilling into your bed for installation. The cover is easily snapped into place and works to protect the bed and cargo from the elements.

Roll-Up Covers

The next in line is the roll-up covers. They are easily rolled up to the front of the bed when not in use. This kind of cover also has a frame and requires no drilling. This material has a vinyl coated surface on both sides of the cover and a rear tensioning system so it can be attached in severe cold. The rear rail locks into the side framework, which offers security when the vehicle is equipped with a locking tailgate.

Folding Covers

Folding covers come in two different styles: hard and soft. The soft covers allow for easy access to the bed and for cover removal. Hard folding covers are easy to use but add security to the vehicle. This bed is good for people who routinely carry taller cargo because they are easily removed.

Retractable Covers

Retractable covers are flush against your bed and are available in a wide variety of materials. These covers provide a clean appearance as well as ease that most truck owners love. These covers lock securely and don’t require removal to access your bed.

Fiberglass Lids

Fiberglass lids are popular when an owner wants something that will blend in with their truck. The covers can be painted to match your truck, making it look like it was always a part of the vehicle. These lids are quite heavy at approximately 110 pounds but they are removable. Some models can be removed with release hardware that leaves the frame behind while others are removable by using releasing clamps and that remove the lid and framework together. When they are in place, they can be locked and prevent the tailgate from being opened. They are strong and durable for security.

Fiberglass Truck Caps

Fiberglass caps are one of the favorite truck accessories. They are molded and painted to match the vehicle’s color, giving your truck a stylish appearance. Fiberglass truck caps are designed to suit how you use your truck. They can be tailored for contractors, outdoorsy people, and general use. They are functional without sacrificing looks.

Aluminum Truck Caps

Aluminum caps are made for heavy duty applications. They are available in standard colors as well as a variety of window options. They are standard caps that will protect your truck and cargo from the elements. These caps give you added security with locking mechanisms to keep your truck and cargo safe.

Thinking about getting a truck cap for your pickup truck’s bed? There are plenty of great reasons to do so:

Protection

A truck bed cap protects anything you might have in your bed from the elements, so you don’t have to worry about a freak storm soaking that new table you’re hauling. Truck caps also protect items from theft, so you don’t have to worry about anyone stealing your tools or work equipment while you’re away from your truck.

Fuel Efficiency

A truck cap improves the aerodynamics of your truck by preventing air from swirling around behind the cab and through the bed, which slows the truck down. Over time this adds up to a healthy savings on gas from increased fuel efficiency.

Hauling Security

Truck caps ensure that whatever is in the bed stays there. No more worrying about something flying out of the bed, especially with loads that exceed the height of the bed.

Trick Trucks carries a variety of bed covers for your truck, all with their own unique characteristics. Read on to find out which cover is best for you.

Soft/Vinyl Bed Covers

These covers are good in that they don’t require any drilling to attach to the truck, as they use a frame with support bows that clamp to the truck. They can protect the bed and cargo from the weather and are fairly inexpensive.

Fiberglass Lids

Fiberglass lids can be painted to match the truck and are very strong and reinforced for durability. They are removable, but can weigh more than 100 pounds. Depending on the model, there may be a quick release system available, or it may be mounted to a framework with clamps that need to be released to remove the lid. When the lid is attached, it prevents the tailgate from opening. Fiberglass lids tend to be expensive.

Hard Plastic Lids

At 60 pounds, these lids are a little lighter than fiberglass lids, and are strong, durable, and easily removable. They protect the bed and prevent the tailgate from being opened when they are locked in place. These covers are usually middle of the road when it comes to the expense factor.

Folding Bed Covers

These lids come in the hard and soft varieties and allow easy access to the truck bed and cargo by folding up halfway up the bed. Hard folding covers lock to prevent the tailgate from opening.

Rolling Bed Covers

Roll up covers are similar to soft/vinyl covers with the added benefit of a frame that clamps to the bed that allows the cover to be rolled up and stored for easy access when needed.
